I Don’t Know What to Call This, but I Know I Don’t Like It.

I’m speaking specifically about the title, period. I know exactly what “it” is and it is Black male hatred.

If it seemed like this hatred or “disliking” of Nipsey Hussle came out of the blue, that’s because it did, for the most part. When he was just some “nobody rapper” with a “higher statured” girlfriend these weirdos thought nothing of him. History as recent as 2020 shows whenever Black men are at the center of positive attention for a change, the haters come out to rain on parades.

No, George Floyd and the other deaths of Black men by the hands and knees of law enforcement getting murals, riots and protest does not count as positive Black male coverage nor does that not make you someone who doesn’t hate Black men because you’re out here twerking for “justice.” What it really means is that you hate us so much that we’re only worth a damn if we were touched by one of the white “gods” you worship.

Nipsey Hussle wasn’t perfect but neither are the white and non-Black men you fetishize. White boy can be a drug addict and an abuser and it’s crickets or “respect the dead” when he dies. “Think about his family, his wife/girlfriend before you speak ill of him,” but Lauren London and Vanessa Bryant don’t deserve the same? You think so low of us, anyone who dares to love us doesn’t deserve compassion. How can I compare someone with a drug problem to a “gang banger”? Let’s take a quick look at the life of Nipsey Hussle and your average drug abusing woman beating white boy with the “swagger” of a Black man without the “SkIN.” One man turned his life around and uplifted his community. The other man is white. I know in your world being white is the best thing a man can do or be, but in the real world people want and value tangibles and I don’t mean being able to touch and be touched by a white man. This is not to shit on anybody battling drug addiction. This is me saying every reason you just regurgitate as to why you don’t like Nipsey Hussle has nothing to do with you hating what he did or said and everything to do with you hating Black men and hating when people outside of us love one of us.

Last time that I checked, that was your problem.
